And it's not to minimize our spiraling debt, the plight of those who suffered through the shutdown, or the frustration and anger felt by so many Americans amid Washington's dysfunction. But the great promise of America is that our politics evolve when a broad community of individuals and leaders stand up for their interests. We bend but we do not break.
